I start watching Charles Clarke's Education speech on TV in the cafe but I am so inspired that I nip into the hall to hear it.
"Education is opportunity by another name". Fantastic. I think Clarke's speech is excellent, setting out a record of achievement and painting a brilliant vision of the future:
"I believe that our ambition for universal childcare is as bold and as ambitious as was the determination to create the National Health Service."
"I offer a crusade to establish schools as year-round hubs of sport, creativity, childcare and family services."
You can read the whole speech here.
